Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Caregivers, Students and Community Members,

Another week has passed and the end of term is quickly approaching.

Last week I attended a Sorry Day Service held at the Holy Trinity Church. The ceremony was moving and heartfelt. A highlight was the wonderful performance of the Sarah Redfern Senior Choir, performing the songs ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Lean on Me’. I was a very proud principal. Congratulations to the students’ conductor, Erin Holohan, and Nicole Ede for their direction and support.

The school continues to be shuffled around with the building works being carried out. Presently, refurbishment has begun in Block D and the Hall. Classes who are in Block D are now situated in the demountables. The students are wonderful in their acceptance of the disruption that the movement has caused.

It is with sadness that we farewell Amy Smith this week. We thank Amy for the wonderful contribution she has made at Sarah Redfern over the past eight years and wish her well in her new position as Assistant Principal at St. Andrews P.S.

Zagorka Auld will teach 6S class until the end of Term 2. She has previously worked at our school on a casual basis.

Regards
Mick Aslanis JP

Kinder Excursion to Fairfield City Farm

Last Thursday, Kinder Red, Kinder Purple and K/1 Blue went on an excursion to Fairfield City Farm.

For our Kinders, this was their first ‘out of school’ learning experience and they thoroughly enjoyed it!

Farmer Justin and Farmer Tara showed us lots of cute farm animals. We got to milk a cow and watch a sheep being shorn. The whip show was amazing, especially when Nani and Zac got to have a go!

Thank you to our parents who supported this excursion 100%. Experiences like this are just so beneficial in maximising your child’s learning at school.

Gala Day Reports

Junior Soccer Team

During the first exciting match against Robert Townson P.S. the score was 0-0 but we still had fun. The second exciting match was against Minto P.S. and the score was 1-2. I scored the first goal even though we had only one count. That was an enjoyable match.

The Junior Soccer team didn’t care if they won or lost. The only important thing is sportsmanship and teamwork. We enjoyed our time at Jackson Oval.

Thank you very much to Sarah and Ally for umpiring our soccer matches. Thank you to Mr. Roberts for coaching our team and Mrs. Theobald for supporting us.
