Principal's Message

Welcome to Term 4. Unbelievably the end of year is looming with only eight and a half weeks left to achieve a great deal.

The children and teachers will be working hard to complete units of work, assessments and compiling data to provide parents with a genuine exchange of information regarding children’s learning.

Orientations
For all children whose parents have completed enrolment forms, Kindergarten orientation will begin next Tuesday, 27th October and will continue for four weeks.

Similarly, Preschool orientation and play days will commence on 12/13th November.

Please make sure that friends/new neighbours are aware. We have delivered school prospectuses and letters into the new area but word of mouth may well be more effective.

Solar Program
This week I will meet with company representatives to examine various combinations of solar power and low energy lighting. We will be utilising a $50,000 grant offered by the Federal government.

Preschool Playground
As parents may have noticed, the preschool playground excavation has now begun. While the play area is out of action (3-4 weeks) the children will utilise the enclosed area at the back of Kindergarten. We look forward to the finished product.

League Tables
I will represent public schools as a participant at a Forum organised by the Daily Telegraph and the University of Technology, Sydney on Friday, 23rd October.

Input will be provided by the NSW Education Minister, Verity Firth, and academics from tertiary, secondary and primary institutions. I look forward to putting forward the case for schools such as our own.

Have a wonderful fortnight.

Blue Mountains Excursion
This Stage One excursion was cancelled last term due to the dust storms.

Arrangements have now been made for the children to travel to the Blue Mountains National Park on Wednesday, 28th October.

Your child will bring home an updated permission note soon.

Lane Cove National Park

An overnight camp for Years 3 & 4 has been organised for 4th & 5th November. The children will have first hand experience of a national park and explore the mini worlds and wildlife of this extraordinary environment.

The cost for the camp will be approximately $70.00, which includes accommodation, transport, meals and all activities.

Please send your deposit of $10.00 to school by Friday, 23rd October. Final payment must be made by Friday, 30th October.

Kinder Orientation

Invitations are currently being sent out for those students commencing Kindergarten in 2010. If your child has not been enrolled, please see Maureen Boothe to complete an enrolment form and receive your invitation to the orientation sessions.
