Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

What a great year of achievement our children are having! It seams that no matter what area we enter our young ones are measuring up to the very best.

Macarthur Eisteddfod
It was a privilege to watch our choirs perform at ‘The Cube’ (Campbelltown Catholic Club) last Thursday. Not only did they demonstrate great talent, their behaviour and social skills were outstanding. A parent from another participating school (Mittagong P.S.) rang to both congratulate and praise the children.

The results were also very pleasing – a first in the junior section and second in the senior – the best school entered.

Enterprise Fair
Last fortnight I mentioned the upcoming Fair – an exercise in living mathematics. Wow! What a day of energy, creativity, calculation and reward! Children from all the Minto schools and their teachers gathered under the organisation of Sarah Rudling to demonstrate their newly acquired knowledge and skills.

They confidently articulated under-standings in budgeting, advertising, predicting, banking, insuring and presenting. It was a great experience!

Author Visit
The visit from Roslyn Motter, children’s author, last Monday was a great experience for the Stage 2 students. I joined them at lunchtime to discuss characters, purposes etc. and was delighted to hear some really insightful observations and questions from the children. I am sure that they will always remember Roslyn’s exuberant style and dynamic presentation.

Outstanding Spelling Results
Recent outcomes in the University of NSW Spelling Competition are as follows:

Distinctions:
Ashika Jagdish, Sadin Afsar, Mohammed Anik, Yassinn Haque
Credits:
Iramul Hoque, Denise Benasa, Sifat Haque, Rafid Iqbal

Again we are absolutely thrilled with this level of excellence.

Healthy Lifestyles
Many thanks to those parents who so quickly responded to my communication regarding participation in a pilot program to assist in the implementation of healthy living for families.

Chad Harris and I will be meeting with the organisers from Oxygen, Channel 7 and the Good Food Guide magazine to finalise the program which will begin in the first week of Term 4. As soon as we know the details we will be in touch.

Sydney South West Regional Representatives
Nicholas Wikaira, Kara Oeurn, Tuaahu Kumeroa recently respresented the Region in Rugby Union. All boys performed outstandingly to reach this level. We are very proud of their achievement. These boys will be real contenders for the future.

Priority Schools Conference
Will be held on Thursday and Friday (10th & 11th Sept.) at Darling Harbour. Teachers, Sarah Rudling, Erin Synnott, Fiona Woods and Julietta Guyatt will accompany parents, Aroha Paul and Lyn Muaulu, and students Andre Huang and Ashika Jagdish. We look forward to their feedback.

Kind regards,
Cheryl McBride OAM
