Ode to the Sarah Redfern Volunteers

A school is more than books and desks
And learning two plus two
It’s people who share their skills and care
To help students like me and you

At Sarah Redfern we are in luck
We have some special friends
Who deserve our recognition
And gratitude until the end

Today we’d like to honour you
In our own Sarah Redfern way
You volunteers who help us learn
Each and every day

Please listen to our words now friends
You volunteers so bright
They’re spoken with such gratitude
For making school just right

Daystar provides our breakfast
Which gets our brains in gear
Cereal, toast and “Good morning’s”
Start each of our days with good cheer

The canteen helpers are patient
They serve us recess and lunch
Their service at the counter
Ensures we have food to munch

Those brilliant folk at Clayton Utz
Whose letters we love to read
We’re flabbergasted with what you write
It’s such a selfless deed

Some classes have parent helpers
Who give up their precious time
To make sure that our learning
Is on an upward climb

You’ve been so very good to us
So kind without a doubt
You’ve made us feel like winners
And make us want to shout

Today we’d like to thank you
For all you’ve done this year
And tell you that you’re legends
And oh so very dear

Today we’d like to tell you
In our own Sarah Redfern way
We appreciate all the things you’ve done
More than words can say
