Dear Parents,
Firstly, a warm welcome to Amanda Sinclair into the permanent ranks of the teaching profession. Last Tuesday this talented young lady was successful at merit selection. So now she is a permanent part of Sarah Redfern Public School and a treasured asset. Congratulations, Amanda!
As many of you know, Cheryl McBride, Chairperson of the Public School Principals Forum, has been working tirelessly with teachers in trying to ascertain improved funding for students with disabilities. Last Wednesday, teachers, parents and principals from many areas around Sydney converged on Parliament House to present their case. The outcome was extremely successful and a parliamentary inquiry will now be held into the funding of children with disabilities. Again, thank you to all concerned for a job extremely well done and hopefully the extra funding will assist these students in accessing the curriculum to the best of their ability.
On a more serious note, it was extremely disappointing that none of the parents who were supposed to have attended the ‘Money Minder Training’ days last Tuesday and Wednesday turned up. This was an excellent opportunity for community members to become more informed about making the best decisions on how their money could work for them. I trust that there were more pressing matters that had to be attended to. In future would community members please inform us if they are unable to attend in order for other arrangements to be made.
Next week is the beginning of the School Swimming Scheme. Children will be accompanied by Garry Bland, assisted by Melissa Harding and Katie Galloway. This will continue for ten days concluding on Monday, 6th July, 2009. Please ensure that your child attends every day in order to benefit fully from this program.
Last, but not least, at the end of this term parents will be receiving school reports on their children’s progress. We trust you will be suitably impressed with the amount of hard work covered by teachers and students.
Kind regards,
Clarice Maclou
Relieving Principal
